CASE STUDIES

Leading OEMs, real solutions

Situation:

ICA has been a supplier to this multibillion-dollar specialty vehicle OEM for more than two decades.  Forty-eight hours before critical field testing was to begin, this OEM discovered that four different harness assembly types, ordered from a non-ICA manufacturer, were not designed to be waterproof. Delaying field testing was not an option.

Request:

The OEM contacted ICA with a request to deliver new harnesses in time for testing.

Solution:

ICA mobilized engineering and production resources to rework 40 harnesses, using multiple shifts and the weekend, to deliver the first set of harnesses within 48 hours to the testing site. ICA delivered a second set of harnesses within 72 hours and a third set the following Monday. OEM field testing was conducted successfully and without delay and ICA has been supplying the customer with these waterproof harnesses on time and on spec ever since.

Situation:

For this leading manufacturer of fryers, a spike in customer demand resulted in a gap in the supply chain, as the next delivery of harnesses (from a different supplier) was still in inbound ocean freight. Without the necessary harnesses, the OEM would have a down line and would miss commitments to its customers.

Request:

The OEM contacted ICA requesting parts within 48 hours to avert the line down situation.

Solution:

ICA was able to leverage its supply chain relationships and allocate immediate resources to have materials in-house in less than 24 hours. The team hand-delivered parts within two days of the original request and provided subsequent deliveries to cover the complete seven-day supply chain gap. ICA is now a leading suppler to this industry-leading fryer manufacturer.

Situation:

A leading multibillion-dollar international manufacturer faced a large increase in marketplace demand. Its existing harness supplier was unable to meet current quantity, on-time delivery, and quality needs. A potential supply interruption loomed.

Request:

This customer offered to move its business to ICA de Mexico if we could meet all of its needs.

Solution:

ICA de Mexico built three new automated harness board conveyor systems, which dramatically increased the volume of cable assemblies produced for this customer. In turn, with its supply needs met, the manufacturer could meet its own large increase in demand.
